It's that time again and the Dublin City Triathlon has returned to give competitors a chance to take advantage of the Phoenix Park and race their hearts out!
The 15th Gatorade DCT is being held on Sun August 24th and will be the largest based Olympic distance triathlon to be held in the Irish capital.
The course itself will be in the standard format of 1.5k swim/40k Bike & a 10k Run
Course Overview:
The swim leg of the race will start from the Garda boat club on the banks of the Liffey, with the 40km cycle leg taking place on a fast paced loop of the Phoenix park and then finally the 10km run finishing on a scenic cross country inner loop of the park. All in all – the race is both challenging and a breathtaking (in more ways than one) experience.
To get even a small idea of what a magnificent course the race is run on – check out the cycle course video through this link
This video really gives prospective participants a great feel for what the course will be like and we would highly recommend a viewing! (Fair play to the organisers for providing it as well!)
This year is a big year for the Piranha run and Gatorade sponsored race, as it doubles as a National Series race and a qualifier for next year's world championship
For the competitor, there will be lots of spot prizes including:A €300 wetsuit from Aquasphereone to one coaching with THE Catherina McKiernanSessions with Winning Solutions and clinical gait analysis from Irishfit.ie. All competitors will be entered in the draw for these great prizes.
Another exciting development is the charity fundraising Olympic Dream Relay Team, consisting of Chantal Gibney (swimming, Sidney 2000); Ciaran Power (cycling, Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004); and Catherina McKiernan (Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996 - Irish marathon record holder). Paddy Power have agreed to donate €1000 to cancer research for every minute under an agreed time target of 2 hrs and 10 mins.
This is an unique opportunity to compare your race times with genuine Olympians on race day as all relay teams will receive a specialized print out (suitable for framing) of their official splits for your individual team members compared against our Olympians.
There is also the added incentive of winning the relay prize – as the Olympic Dream team is only competing to raise money for charity and as such, will not be eligible for great prizes on offer for the winners.
There are still limited entries available for an unchanged entry fee from last year at :
Piranha Triathlon club and Gatorade look forward to helping you have one of your best race experiences of the season
